OCC Watercolours Day 5

Day 5 of Online Watercolour Card Classes and the lesson is expressive florals.  Definitely getting looser with my painting which I wanted, but still need to loosen up more.  Just need to practise!

I gold embossed the Simon Says Stamp sentiment and added pink and gold splatters.

Birthday Balloons

Taking a break from watercolouring practise to show you a card I made last weekend, when my order arrived from Simon Says Stamp.

I've used Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes dies and Surprise Party die and stamp set.  The inks for the balloons are Hero Arts and I added some sequins, then used some Festive Berries distress inks to add a little colour to the edges.

Poppies

Feeling defeated by painting cornflowers for Watercolour for Cardmakers homework, I got inspired by some participants who painted poppies instead.

The bottom right was a disaster.  Yes I know it's still a hot mess, but you should have seen it when the inked up stamp fell off the block.  That'll teach me to clean the back of my cling stamps.  I tried scraping it off with a knife but there was just too much.  Then I tried to lift it with rubbing alcohol - it didn't work, but it saturated the paper so that when I scraped again with the knife I got the ink off.  Leaving the mess you see but at least the card didn't end up in the bin.

I have so little time for homework for these classes after work but that's okay, there's so much to learn and loads of videos to watch and practise.  I'll be using these lessons and videos long after class has ended.

Watercolour Rose

Day 2 of Watercolour online classes and I got some homework done.  Really don't like taking pictures after dark - much prefer daylight.

This is a first attempt and I need lots of practise!  But I'm learning loads about watercolour and I'm so glad I signed up.

The sentiment is Simon Says Stamp and the watercolour panel was cut with a stitched rectangle from Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes.  The clear droplets are from Pretty Pink Posh.

Watercolour Balloons

Watercolour for Card Makers - Intermediate Techiniques starts tomorrow and I can't wait.  We are to take note of where we are with watercolours before class starts, so we can see how much progress we make during class.

So I had a go at watercolour balloons with some splatters of watercolour and gold shimmer spray.  Well things can only get better from here LOL.

I added Happy Birthday using a Simon Says Stamp die, and some Pretty Pink Posh clear droplets.

Hopefully I can keep up with class homework during the week when I'm working, but I won't have enough daylight till the weekend to photograph and share what I'm doing!

January Blues at Craft for the Craic

This month at Craft for the Craic the theme is January Blues - we want to see how you interpret this, whether you use shades of blue, or make something that reminds you of January, or something that cheers you up in January.  We elcome all crafts so whether it's beading or baking, card making or crochet, we want to see what you've made over at Craft for the Craic.

I'm looking ahead to longer daylight and spring flowers.  I inked Evergreen Bough through a Tim Holtz stencil for the card panel, edged with black card strips.  The Hero Arts flowers were watercoloured with Festive Berries and Peeled Paint distress inks, before die cutting.  A twine bow and some sequins finished the card.

I'd like to enter this into:

(The pretty green twine is new.  Well not exactly, I've had it ages but never used it and recently found it during a tidy up.  So it's new to me. I love when tidying up means discovering stash you forgot you have)
