Girly Challenge at Crafty Bloggers Network

Time for a new challenge at Crafty Bloggers Network and this month we're going GIRLY!

We are sponsored by Milk n Coffee digital stamps and for my first card I chose the very girly and very serene Yoga Madeline.  What are the chances of me looking that chilled throughout the crazy month of December ha!

I coloured with Copics and Spectrum Noirs, the papers are from Webster's Pages and I added some ribbon, pearls  and paper flowers, all from The Ribbon Girl. The sentiment is LOTV and the dies are Spellbinders.

I've had almost no time for cardmaking lately but here's December and not enough Christmas cards made so I'll be giving my crafty stuff a good sort out, I know I have some gorgeous Christmas stamps buried in the stash.  Are your cards all made yet?  If you make a girly one, please share it with us this month at Crafty Bloggers Network, we'd love to see them!

Stamps, Paper, Ink at ABC Challenges

I'm a wee bit late with this post, sorry! There's always tons of stuff to sort when you get back from a holiday.

ABC's challenge this week is SIP - Stamps, Ink, Paper - taking it back to basics, but you can use paptterned paper too, as I did.  Using Broken China distress ink, I stamped the Flowersoft stamp and used Spellbinders dies to frame, using another Spellbinders die for the Hero Arts sentiment, inking with the same distress ink while the card was still in the die.  Fast and easy! Join in the fun this week at ABC Challenges!

Monochramatic Challenge at ABC Challenges

This week's challenge at ABC Challenges is an easy one - monochromatic cards.

I chose a greeny-blue and made a Christmas card.  I used Waltzingmouse Stamps - love their Nordic stamps! - and an absolute favourite Distress Ink, Evergreen Bough.  The embossing folder is from Cuttlebug and the ribbon and pearls from The Ribbon Girl.  The green mat was made by inking some card with Evergreen Bough.

Why not make a card in shades of your favourite colour and enter the challenge this week at ABC Challenges.

P.S. Sorry if I don't get around your blogs this week.  I am on holiday and just logged on to publish these draft posts.  It's pretty weird looking at a Christmas card in this heat, and they tell me tomorrow's temperatures are 42-45.  I'm almost missing the Irish rain.  I said almost!!  Ger x

Tea Dance Collection

Morning! Spotted some Craftwork Cards packs when I was in Crafty Angels on Saturday, this card is made with papers from the Tea Dance collection.  I added Waltzingmouse Stamps frame die cut with Labels 18 and added jute mesh, sparkly bead trim, pleated ribbon, pearls and flowers from The Ribbon Girl.  The sentiment is computer made.

Can't seem to take good photos lately, the colours all seem so insipid.

Oh Scrap!

ABC Challenges are getting us to use up our scraps this week!

I know you all have tons of scraps of paper and card and some are so precious that even the tiniest strips are hoarded!  That was the case with the Basic Grey and My Mind's Eye papers we were using at a workshop with the lovely Sandie Dunne I went to on Saturday at Crafty Angels fabulous shop in Newbridge, Kildare.  The shop is so well stocked! Gorgeous selection of dies and embossing folders, too.

But back to the card.  I paper pieced the rainy day Anya image from one side of the beautiful double sided paper, and die cut clouds from the other side, inking the edges with Broken China.  Another hoarded piece of paper was fishtail-cut and put along the bottom of the card - it reminded me of raindrops.  A piece of kraft card was embossed with dots (raindrops again) and layered onto the red side of the paper, then everything was placed onto some blue Adorable Scorable cardstock.  Anya was coloured with Copics.

So come on, here's your chance to use up some of that stash of scraps and enter your cards over at ABC Challenges!

Double Embossing Challenge at ABC Challenges

After taking last week off we are back in swing with a new challenge this week at 'ABC' Challenges.  The challenge this week is technique based - we want to see your Beautiful Cards made with two types of embossing (Doubly Embossed).

Adding texture through embossing is a great technique to use.   We thought it would be fun to challenge you a bit and ask you to use both on your cards this week.  What we would really like to see is your cards using both dry (texture) and wet (stamped and heat set) embossing.  But if that doesn't work for you then please use two different types of dry embossing patterns on your card.  We'll be happy with that as well.
For my card I used dry embossing - a Tim Holtz folder - and used Frantage powder as a bit of a cheat but oh boy that stuff can be tricky!  Every time I snuck up on it with my heat gun it all blew away!  In the end I used an embossing pen to put dots on the tree for the powder to stick to.

Come on over to ABC Challenges, see what the rest of the Design Team created, and enter our fun challenge!

It's time for another Inspiration Monday at Crafty Bloggers Network where this month the challenge is to add metal.

I've used one of our sponsor's images - Lacy Sunshine 'Maddie and Clover Groovy Hippie Music' LOL reminds me of the sixties flower power stuff.  I coloured with Speccies and Copics and added some embossing - docrafts Me to You embossing folder, some Tim Holtz tattered florals, an LOTV sentiment and lace and a flower charm from The Ribbon Girl.

Thanks for visiting. Ger x

Tilly Swing

Wow it got sooo hot here yesterday and today looks to be heading in the same direction! No I'm not complaining!  We see plenty of rain and cold days.

I'm still playing with my Tilly Daydreams A4 Ultimate pack.  I also bought a roll of Tilly Adhesive Fabric and I've had fun with that.  It die cuts beautifully, in fact I had to use my nails to fray the edges of the hex shaped frame.  I stamped the leaves and little squirrel from the stamp set and coloured with Papermania brush markers and water.

Happy Anniversary

Sometimes it's wonderful to spend ages on a card, other times you need one FAST!  That's when I love docrafts A4 Decoupage paper packs.  This one is their Home to Nest range, it's really lovely.  The little birdhouses are so cute, and there are lovely gardening themes through the pack, pretty colours too.  I added Kraft cardstock and some twine.

This summer is already a better one than last year.  The sun is shining today again and first thing this morning I was out 'footing' turf.  An hour of that at a time is enough for me LOL at least until I get hardened to it again - it's backbreaking stuff.  Still, it was lovely and peaceful and my exercise is done for the day!

Thans for visiting. Ger x

Red, white and blue at ABC Challenges

Good Monday morning all.  The sun is out - so far anyway, let's hope it stays a while.  This week at ABC Challenges we have a colour challenge - Red, White and Blue.

I just love the new Ahoy Range from Papermania and of course the colours are perfect. I made this for a (cardmaking mad) neighbour's little boy's birthday.

I covered a Papermania square card blank with the patterned paper before cutting a circle from the centre with Sizzix framelits, then cut a frame and an acetate circle.  I had the waves at a steep angle through the porthole but I started to get seasick! I'd get seasick in the bath LOL!

I hope you'll join us over at ABC Challenges this week.

Summer Themed Cards at ABC Challenges

It's Summer Themed cards this week at ABC Challenges and I'm sure we're all ready for Summer!  We had some last week but it's disappeared again.

My card base is Neenah Desert Storm kraft cardstock.  I used some patterned papers, white alpha stickers and ric-rac ribbon from Simon Says Stamp card kits.  The background was inked a little with Broken China for some blue sky, but being Ireland I had to add a cloud too, also from SSS card kit.  The pearls are from The Ribbon Girl.

Looking forward to seeing your Summery cards at ABC Challenges this week.

Midway Inspiration at Crafty Bloggers Network

The Bright and Breezy challenge is still running at Crafty Bloggers Network and as we're halfway through the month it's time for some Midway Inspiration.

My card was made for a male birthday.  I used a hot air balloon chipboard shape from our sponsor this month, Gina's Designs.  I inked it with Distress Ink and stamped with Hero Arts Envelope Background and Picket Fence Distress Stain. The cardstock, tag, Washi tape and papers are from Simon Says Stamp card kits, and the sentiment is Hero Arts.

We've got two new Design Team Members this month (and we are still open for applications) so come on over and see what the Team have created for your midway inspiration.

Exam Weather

Two quickly made cards today, made for Junior Cert exam students (one is for my daughter).  The exams start today, and the weather has done its thing.  The card was made from stamps and papers from Simon Says Stamp card kits, a Hero Arts flower, tiny Papermania sentiment and an EK Success punch.  I put a strip of the flowery green paper on the inside of the card to show through the punched area but you can't see that in the pic.

The second card is quite similar and I made a pleated Washi tape flower.

We see so little sunshine in Ireland it's no wonder we lose the run of ourselves when it does appear.  I think it should be a national day off!

Enjoy the sunshine! Ger x

Masculine Cards at ABC Challenges

Hope you are all enjoying the warm weather!  With Father's Day fast approaching, this week's challenge at ABC Challenges is to create a Masculine card, any type of male card will be fine, including cards for a little boy.

For my card I used papers and embellishments from last September's Simon Says Stamp Card Kit, including the fun chalkboard which I wrote on with a white gel pen.  The stars were made using a Memory Box die.

Hope to see your cards at ABC Challenges this week!
